In a highly competitive field, young fashion and bag designer Danielle Krémer, has won the 2011 $10,000 NSW Business Chamber Textile, Clothing and Footwear (TCF) Industry Award.
Danielle won the Award for her innovative business plan for her women's bag range, "LIFT".

Vis Com graduate, Louella Pleffer's film Ain't in That Grave, has been selected in competition in the St Kilda Film Festival. Louella's film, a stop motion music video for local band Nighttown, was produced for her graduating major project. Now in its 28th year, the St Kilda Film Festival is Australia's longest running short film festival.

Sarah Eddowes' animated film Collision has been selected for competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2011. Annecy is widely regarded as the most important festival for animation internationally. Collision was produced as Sarah's capstone project for her Master of Animation degree.
With the assistance of Deborah Szapiro, Sarah has also been successful with a $5000 travel grant for Screen Australia to attend the festival.

Gerard Reinmuth's architectural practice TERROIR is currently working on two major projects in Denmark, the Bispebjerg Hospital, a (AUD)$1BN project that is set to transform both the hospital and this area of Copenhagen over the next 15 years; and the Aarhus Tower 2, which will be primarily residential in use and is intended for young residents who will make use of the recreational opportunities at this harbour, one of the largest in Northern Europe.

UTS 2007 graduate Brad Stebbing has recently returned to Australian shores as a finalist in two prestigious Australian design competitions.
The industrial designer was awarded this month winner of the 2009 Belle Georg Jensen Design Award and was a runner up in the 2009 Qantas Spirit of Australia Award, won by UTS graduate Tom Fereday.

In his PhD thesis, Human Interaction in Project Management, Dr Mano Nugapitiya, recently graduated from the School of the Built Environment, explored the many social processes that take place concurrently with the technical process, and how these social processes come to influence a project outcome.
