Cox proposes creativity tonic for Australia's declining productivity

18 November 2011

UK business and entrepreneurship expert, Sir George Cox, says Australia needs a creativity overhaul to improve economic performance. Sir George, author of the Cox Review, will address UTS Business School on Tuesday 22 November on the reforms necessary to boost Australia's economic productivity.

According to Sir George, Australia's deteriorating productivity performance can only be reversed if both business and government fundamentally rethink their approach to innovation.

An Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) website supporting sustainability studies in universities will be taken over by a team from UTS Business School and the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF). The UTS team has won an ALTC tender of more than $355,000 to maintain and enhance the functionality of www.sustainability.edu.au.

Wicked Business

The Wicked Business Concept Design competition is devised by UTS Business School with sponsorship from the NSW Business Chamber. Entrants were selected from the new core business subject: Integrating Business Perspectives (IBP), which leads students through the early concept stage of designing a new business & provides a space for first-year students to develop their creativity and foster confidence in their ideas.

A competition for teams of 2-4 current undergraduate students in the UTS Business School of all years in the space of People, Planet and Profit (The 3Ps). The challenge is to develop a new, innovative product/idea, service associated with the 3Ps. The teams are required to develop their ideas into a viable business case.
