About

The Australian Centre for Event Management (ACEM), in association with the School of Leisure, Sport and Tourism, University of Technology, Sydney conducts Australia's widest range of event management courses from one-day professional development seminars to Masters degree programs. These programs are offered both nationally and internationally. Students undertaking these courses often have prior experience in the area of event management, and are seeking to further develop this expertise through undertaking internships, research projects or volunteer work placements. Such workplace based learning practices, while of benefit to students, also provides event organisations with the opportunity to progress specific projects, or engage additional 'staff' who have a measure of expertise in the planning and delivery of events.

In the case of internships and research based projects, the University provides organisations with insurance coverage while the student is working at their premises. In respect of volunteer placements, the organisation itself needs to arrange for its own insurance policy to cover students working in this capacity.

ACEM is also interested in making details of employment opportunities available to students. These opportunities can be made known to a wider audience via ACEM's website (see www.acem.uts.edu.au) if desired, as can volunteer positions.

ACEM is presently seeking to expand its data base of organisations that are interested in providing students with work based learning opportunities. In order to register your interest, all that is required is for you to complete one/or both of the attached forms. Form 1 relates to research projects and internships. When completing this form please indicate the preferred commencement time. Form 2 concerns volunteer or paid positions, and can be submitted at any time. If you wish to withdraw your involvement in our work placement program it is simply a matter of emailing ACEM.
